Wuthering Waves poster with characters from the game

Here are all the characters that are confirmed for Wuthering Waves, when the game releases in version 1.0 on May 22.

Kuro Games’ upcoming open-world RPG, Wuthering Waves, is a gacha title which means it’ll feature a colorful roster of characters — all in different rarities and more to be added post-launch.

For version 1.0 of Wuthering Waves, here is the entire cast of confirmed playable characters.

List of all Wuthering Waves characters

Wuthering Waves is confirmed to have 17 characters at launch, with eight of them being 5-stars and the rest being 4-stars.

Here is a full breakdown of all those characters.

Rover

Rover in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 5-star
  • Element: All
  • Weapon: Sword

Rover is the primary protagonist of Wuthering Waves and has both male and female options, similar to Traveler in Genshin Impact. Likewise, they’ll be able to wield all elements in the game.

From the narrative perspective, Rover will be at the center of rebuilding the calamity-torn Solaris-3 and are battling amnesia. So they’ll be saving the world, making new friends, beating monsters, and figuring out more about themselves.

Jiyan

Jiyan in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 5-star
  • Element: Aero
  • Weapon: Broadblade

Bound by law and justice, General Jiyan is the 5-star limited banner character in Wuthering Waves. Our general stands guard at the well-fortified city of Jinzhou, but this isn’t something that runs in his family, as he was born into a family devoted to medicine.

In terms of gameplay strength, Jiyan was one of the strongest DPS in CBT. Of course, that could change, but expect him to be strong as he’ll be one of the limited banner rate-ups.

Yinlin

Yinlin in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 5-star
  • Element: Electro
  • Weapon: Rectifier

The second and the only other limited banner character in the list, Yinlin works in secret to uncover the hidden crimes in Jinzhou. Despite her flamboyant appearance, Yinlin is described as someone who “possesses a heart of gold.”

Yinlin is a damage dealer, and so far she appears to be a strong and reliable addition to see you through the game.

Calcharo

Calcharo in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 5-star
  • Element: Electro
  • Weapon: Broadblade

Yet another main DPS on this list, Calcharo, is one of the five standard banner units available at launch. An exile who currently serves as the leader of a mercenary group, Calcharo is as serious as you’d imagine — both in demeanor and towards his job.

It’d be odd if someone so ruthless doesn’t have much prowess in gameplay, and so far Calcharo is looking to be a very strong unit.

Encore

Encore in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 5-star
  • Element: Fusion
  • Weapon: Rectifier

Seeing the cute fluffy companions by her side, you may have already guessed that Encore has a more spirited personality. Working as a consultant, all she wants is a world where we have happy endings.

Don’t be fooled by her lively nature, though, Encore is a very capable damage dealer (based on her closed beta performance), and could easily see you through the early few versions of Wuthering Waves.

Jianxin

Jianxin in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 5-star
  • Element: Aero
  • Weapon: Gauntlets

Jianxin is a standard banner unit in Wuthering Waves. All we know is that martial arts are very important to her life, she is a successor of Fengyiquan and a monk after all.

Her closed beta kit suggested her as a healer and a damage dealer, and she was pretty good at it.

Lingyang

Lingyang in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 5-star
  • Element: Glacio
  • Weapon: Gauntlets

Lingyang’s designs may have already foretold that he is a lion dancer. Described as a “valiant fighter born with an impressive physique,” he is very friendly and wouldn’t mind making new friends.

He is very similar to Gaming in Genshin Impact in terms of gameplay, performing leaps and plunges. It isn’t hard to guess why there are similarities, as they both inherit the spirit of lion dancing in both gameplay and story. Lingyang is a standard banner unit.

Verina

Verina in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 5-star
  • Element: Spectro
  • Weapon: Rectifier

Bonded to nature, especially plants, Verina is cheerful, kind-hearted, and as polite as you’d expect. Described as a “humble and determined plant breeder,” Verina is a botanist and hails from New Federation.

In terms of kit, Verina was a healer and a sub-DPS during the recent closed beta test. She was pretty strong, but that may change upon release.

Aalto

Aalto in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 4-star
  • Element: Aero
  • Weapon: Pistols

Described as an “erratic and elusive information broker,” Aalto is likely your most reliable person for any sort of information. But you got to quote the right price for our lad to share the details.

Baizhi

Baizhi in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 4-star
  • Element: Glacio
  • Weapon: Rectifier

Baizhi is a researcher from Huaxu Academy, and typical of most researchers, she isn’t very friendly. Her companion doesn’t look too cheerful either.

While she mostly appears aloof, Baizhi is someone you’d want on your team, as she is a healer. As for how strong she is, we’ll have to wait until the release to judge her strength.

Chixia

Chixia in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 4-star
  • Element: Fusion
  • Weapon: Pistol

Always wandering around the city of Jinzhou, Chixia is a young patroller who you can call whenever you find yourself in trouble. Chixia was one of the free characters in the early beta test, and it may stay that way on release.

Danjin

Danjin in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 4-star
  • Element: Havoc
  • Weapon: Sword

Said to be an “ardent ranger girl driven by a strong moral compass,” Danjin is super serious about destroying evil. Everyone in the game is said to like her and take care of her as “their younger sister.” She is primarily a damage dealer and was good in beta.

Mortefi

Mortefi in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 4-star
  • Element: Fusion
  • Weapon: Pistols

Mortefi hailed from a very well-to-do family but left all that behind for the pursuit of research. It makes sense since he was considered the youngest genius in the New Federation. A fiery dragon with a pistol, Mortefi is also a damage dealer and was pretty strong in recent tests.

Sanhua

Sanhua in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 4-star
  • Element: Glacio
  • Weapon: Sowrd

There is nothing too remarkable to add about Sanhua. She is a reliable guard for Jinhsi, the magistrate in Jinzhou city. Sanhua was described as “a silent protector” who was born visionless and later acquired abnormal vision in the wake of the Waveworn Phenomenon.

Taoqi

Taoqi in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 4-star
  • Element: Havoc
  • Weapon: Boardblade

Taoqi is perhaps one of the more chilled and laid-back characters on this list. But despite her being less serious than others, Taoqi is still reliable and serves as a director of border defense at the Ministry of Development.

Her kit was a defensive support, that provided a shield and damage reduction.

Yangyang

Yangyang in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 4-star
  • Element: Aero
  • Weapon: Sword

An outrider for Midnight Rangers, Yanyang is caring for all those around her. Yangyang is a capable damage dealer who can restore a good amount of Resonance Energy for your team. She was one of the free characters that you could unlock in the game by playing in the closed beta.

Yuanwu

Yuanwu in Wuthering Waves
  • Rarity: 4-star
  • Element: Electro
  • Weapon: Gauntlets

Described as a “polite and modest gentleman,” Yuanwu is a dude who sports a full-grown white beard — a rarity if you’ve been playing other gacha titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. He looks dashing, that’s for sure. As for how elegant and powerful he is in gameplay, we’ll figure that out on release.

That’s all the confirmed characters for Wuthering Waves, we’ll update whenever more are revealed. Until then, for more on the other biggest blockbusters coming soon, check out:
