Mount Olympus in Fortnite

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is coming to an end, and the devs are starting the build-up to Season 3 with a mini-live event. Here’s how to watch the event and everything we know about it so far, including the role the statue at Mount Olympus and Pandora’s Box will play.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is due to arrive on May 24 and players have been hoping that the current season will conclude with one of the game’s signature live events. Well, it looks like they’re getting their wish, as the statue at Mount Olympus is starting to stir, signaling that the end is coming.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 build-up live event.

When is Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 live event?

There is no official start date for the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 build-up event, as the devs themselves haven’t announced anything. However, it’s likely to arrive very soon, as the preparations have already begun on the map.

On May 13, the eyes on the large winged statue over Mount Olympus started to glow and a surge of lightning could be seen in the surrounding clouds. Then, on May 14, the statue moved for the first time and struck Pandora’s Box with lightning that it fired into the sky.

So, although it’s unclear when the full spectacle will begin, the community is transfixed waiting for the next development.

How to watch Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 live event

The Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 live event is expected to take place within regular matches, so anybody playing the game when it happens will be able to see it. This is similar to the Titan’s Hand event that preceded Chapter 5 Season 2, which allowed all players to take part during a Battle Royale game.

In the past, Fortnite’s larger live events were broken into separate playlists that could be replayed afterward. However, for these mini-events, Epic Games like to naturally work them into standard lobbies to make players feel more involved.

What to expect in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 live event

The Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 build-up event is expected to bring the wrath of the gods down upon the island, setting up the leaked apocalypse theme that will reportedly take over the map. Dataminer ‘Loolo_WRLD‘ discovered files that mentioned players will need to “find and destroy Zeus’s Stormforged Hourglass, and protect mortal kind once and for all.”

The Stormforged Hourglass has already been added to the game as part of Medusa’s Snapshot Quests, where players were already tasked with damaging it. But, it seems like it will have a larger role to play once the sparks start to fly.

Further leaks from ‘HYPEX’ also revealed that “lightning craters” will appear all over the island, while a huge sandstorm will appear around the statue at Mount Olympus as it starts to move.

New data mined leaks show what looks to be the entire live event for this season. If these leaks are true, then Pandora’s Box will overload and cause lightning to strike several parts of the island before going far into the horizon and exploding.

The sandstorm will then form in the water and slowly start returning to the island. You can check the entire leaked footage here.

That was everything we know about the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 live event so far. We’ll be sure to update this page with more details once we know more.
